Camping In Dhanaulti the unforgettable moments
Exploring hills of the northern part of India is not complete unless you have traveled the vast expanse of the Camping in Dhanaulti Mountains and the upper Himalayas, more specifically Leh and that direction. This opportunity was almost too good to pass to do Camping in Dhanaulti but not the Nainital way. If you think you liked the hills of Bhimtal you are bound to fall in love with the hills in Mussoorie. Despite all warnings about Camping in Dhanaulti being the most commercial hill-station we still decided to risk the drive, the energy, and the occasion.
We planned to stay at the Camp in Dhanaulti, a wee bit away from the local chaos that perpetually ruins your vacation. The drive is great. We reached faster than anticipated. Many people, me included are seriously motion sick and if we were fine through the climb then it most certainly was a good drive. The clouds approach you welcoming you eagerly. Post Camping in Dhanaulti, the climb is fast and cool. Literally cool. Temples scattered across the hills, surprisingly waterfalls along the way, the approach and the city itself is buzzing with people all the time.
Next few days were spent experiencing luxury at its peak. Nothing about the food, service, rooms, the view from the rooms, was ordinary. I was surprised to know that the Camp in Dhanaulti had an "experience manager" on the property. Lavish breakfast, personalized attention we were pampered every minute we were there.
One of the mornings, we took off on a 2-hour trek along the mountains to reach a popular tourist destination on. A few observations, but interesting ones emerged from it. There is a lot of who say not to compare. However, if you are the kinds of loving being out when in the hills then the differences is obvious. The flora in Dhanaulti is just brilliant! The color, the tints, the spread and so much that is new! The soil by default, I learnt later promotes immense variety of plants. Dhanaulti is a photographers' paradise, especially nature photographers. When you trek the mountains of Dhanaulti, rarely are you alone. The sounds of nature draw you out…the constant buzz around you make you want to explore more and more. The Himachal hills are a paradise for adept birders. Nature engulfs you when you venture out on to the hills. The food using local spices are abounding in Dhanaulti. As opposed to Dhanaulti where we were told the Tehri cuisine is not much different from what we would normally eat. Just cooked with a bunch of different spices.
I believe, the resorts themselves have adapted to the difference in their offerings. Aamod at Shoghi is one big difference. Closest to nature and yet very chic in style and decor, they offer you luxury redefined. Their resort in Badod, promises to charm you every morning and offers cozy spaces to engage, while still being in the lap of nature. Drive to Narkanda, and eyes open onto the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. Aamod at Manali and Dalhousie are paradise woven into hill itineraries. Both individually are resorts built into nature experiences, where you literally experience the outside through a lot of adventure activities, walking, trekking, birding and more.
Overall, the hill experience feels complete when it is the Himachal Pradesh, but dry and a bit unadventurous when it is Uttarakhand.
